BakerCorp Helps Chemical Plant Solve Unexpected Flooding

Sudden downpours require rapid response by BakerCorp water treatment team

In the summer of 2017, BakerCorp completed an emergency treatment solution in response to unexpected flooding at the plant of a large plastics and chemical manufacturer. At one of its main facilities in Texas, this leading supplier of plastic resins and petrochemicals experienced torrential downpours, leaving 3 million gallons of stored water contaminated with rainwater.

In less than six weeks, BakerCorp designed and executed a successful solution to reduce the levels of copper and zinc. Due to the urgent and unexpected nature of the situation, the Water treatment solution needed to be adaptable to the challenges presented on-site.

After a careful assessment, the plan BakerCorp developed included using BakerCorp's EC-250 Mobile Trailer System and electrocoagulation treatment, followed by a solids removal process consisting of water clarification, filtration and adsorption for reducing carbon-based materials in the water. BakerCorp rapidly executed the proposed solution and completed initial testing to validate the process's performance within just a few weeks. According to one of the manufacturer's executives, “no other service provider could deliver both on treatment effectiveness and cost versus disposal options.” BakerCorp later created a long-term, cost-effective plan to meet future water treatment needs, knowing a similar situation could occur in the future.
