The Fertiliser Plant’s Challenge: A major manufacturer of fertiliser was planning its annual turnaround maintenance of its acid unit. Unfortunately, it had no available storage for the low pH cleaning liquids. The customer wanted to treat the used cleaning liquids on-site — using a controlled feed to its wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) — so as to avoid high external treatment costs.
The Baker Solution: Baker’s involvement began early, in the project planning phase, greatly simplifying the entire process. Our engineered solution included three Baker Poly tanks for acid storage and two Baker EZ Clean Steel tanks for nitrate storage. The Baker tanks were positioned on containment berms as an additional safety measure. They were then connected with Baker fittings, hoses, and manifolds.
The Baker solution allowed the customer to better control the feed of the cleaning liquids to its on-site WWTP, buying time and reducing the chance of a plant upset — while saving greatly compared to alternative external treatment costs.
