Temporary acid storage tanks help limit risks and costs

The Fertiliser Plant’s Challenge: A major manufacturer of fertiliser was planning its annual turnaround maintenance of its acid unit. Unfortunately it had no available storage for the low pH cleaning liquids. The customer wanted to treat the used cleaning liquids on-site using a controlled feed to its wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) avoiding high external treatment costs.

The Baker Solution: Baker’s involvement began early in the project planning phase which greatly simplified the process. Our engineered solution included three Baker Poly Tanks for acid storage and two Baker Steel Tanks for nitrate storage. The tanks were positioned on containment berms as an additional safety measure and were connected with Baker fittings, hoses and manifolds.

The Baker solution allowed the customer to better control the feed of the cleaning liquids to its on-site WWTP, saving time and reducing the chance of plant disruption whilst minimising costs compared to alternative external treatment methods.
