FILTRATION OPEN TOP TANK - MOBILE AERATION SOLUTION

With the introduction of our Filtration Open Top Tank, Baker added versatile filtration capabilities to our line of temporary containment products, supporting projects that require filtration or separation of large volumes of liquids with easy visual inspection of the flow. Since the product’s introduction, a number of Baker customers have realised the Filtration Open Top Tank provides versatility and many advantages. To complete the solution offering, Baker now provides its customers with an aeration solution as well. This perfectly demonstrates how Baker can offer custom-designed liquid management solutions.

Bypass of aeration basins 
Placing four plate diffuser panels into our Filtration Open Top Tank creates a mobile solution for bypassing aeration basins. A water level of approx. 3.5 m in our tank results in an efficient oxygen transfer and a relatively small footprint. Combined with the other solutions in our portfolio, Baker is able to temporarily replace an entire biological waste water treatment system when it’s down for inspection, repair or maintenance. With this solution, customers are able to keep their waste water treatment plant running while meeting all standards for disposing of waste water streams, and thereby achieving significant cost savings.

Other aeration applications 
Besides bypassing aeration basins, the Filtration Open Top Tank is equipped with diffuser panels that can have multiple applications:

1. Separation: aeration results in faster separation of floating particles, and the scrubbing effect improves the release of oils bonding to solids.

2. Degassing: stripping volatile dissolved vapours or gases, e.g. methane and ammonia, from liquid streams to avoid problems further in the process, such as corrosion of equipment.

3. Smell Avoidance: aeration avoids the development of anaerobic bacteria which cause unpleasant odours.

4. Oxidation: removing iron and manganese from water, protecting equipment from negative impact of corrosion.
