The Refinery’s Challenge: a refinery needed to repair one of its diethanolamine storage tanks without stopping its production.
The Baker Tank Solution: an engineered bypass of the permanent tank to two Baker rental tanks, fitted with EPDM gaskets. Because of their small footprint, the temporary tanks were able to be installed right next to the fixed storage tank, simplifying logistics and eliminating long hose runs.
Prior to switching on the bypass, the Baker tanks were purged with nitrogen to avoid any DEA reaction with oxygen. The refinery realized substantial cost savings as DEA production was continuous — and all the diethanolamine was useable. Further, the refinery realized significant gains in production time due to the custom Baker solution.
